English Little house study reading comprehension, discussed lyeing and the story of crying wolf. Looked at a cradle Pa used for cutting the grain on the internet.
using this website http://www.honey.com/consumers/kids/honeyfiles.asp learnt about bees doing worksheets on honey bee biology and society. Covering these topics – the bees body and head, life cycle, stinging apparatus (told My Home schooler what would happen to my sister when she was stung), the difference between the bees, their duties, bees dances, hives. Also researched to find out where and what bee glue is.
Lastly watched UTUBE one video about the bees dance and this other one
English Little house study reading comprehension, discussed how isolated Lauras life must have been compared to My Home schooler and how far they had to travel to town. Comparing how far they had to go in terms he could understand. Illustrated some of his short stories – hes written with Anne and I
English/Science/art Little house study reading comprehension, looked at a blog that talked about maple sugar making as we read about this morning, researched the tracks that Pa showed Laura and printed them out and put in our nature book, then we started making a tin light.

walk and number search – we made a blank 50 number chart then as we went around My Home Schooler had to find the numbers to write on his chart. I wrote where we found them
English reading comprehension, read “Ten Facts About Bears” to my home schooler as he pasted a picture of a bear into our nature book (like Lauras we made the other day), then we discussed this while I wrote some of it into the nature book. Heard a bear growl

did some more on our nature book – looked at panthers and added the black bears paw prints
looked at a picture of the house that Laura lived at in this part of her story and a look at what their dog would have looked like
time line put it both events from the house and nz events
looked at an internet page about the history of the New Zealand stamp and learnt that people use to pay for the pages in a letter before stamps. That if one wrote more than one page they paid more. They didnt have envelopes because that would be classed as another page
